Personalized First Grandchild Gift

A Storybook for Someone Who Just Became a Grandparent

The first grandchild is a milestone for two people who are not the ones getting the cards. This is a book with both of them in it, illustrated from your photos.

Create Their Story — Free Preview

When a first grandchild arrives, everyone sends things to the baby. The people whose lives just changed the most quietly, and who receive almost nothing, are the ones who have just been promoted to grandparents. It is a genuine milestone with almost no gift tradition attached to it, which is why the standard options are a mug with a new title on it and not much else.

A Delilah & Mia book fills that gap with something specific to them. Upload a clear photo of the new grandparent and one of the baby, and the AI illustrates from both, so the characters in the artwork are actually them rather than generic figures. Then you describe the story: the first meeting, the things they said they would do together, the traditions they are already planning to start.

Up to five characters can appear, so both grandparents, the parents, and any siblings can be in it together. For many families this is the first illustrated record of the new shape of the household, made before anyone has had time to take a decent photograph of everyone in the same room.

It is also a book that grows into its second purpose. Right now it is a gift for the grandparents. In three years it is the book the grandchild asks for by name, because they are in it, and because it is the one Grandma or Grandpa reads. Very few new-baby gifts have a job to do later. This one does.

Why New Grandparents Are the Most Under-Gifted People in the Room

Becoming a grandparent is a large event that arrives with no ceremony of its own. The baby gets clothes, the parents get advice, and the people who spent thirty years raising the person now holding the baby get a card if they are lucky. A book that puts them in the story treats the milestone as theirs, which is the part almost nothing else does.

The commitment is small. Upload a photo and a free illustrated cover appears in about a minute, with no account and no card. Sign in with Google, describe the story, and the first two pages are illustrated free. Three free redraws come with the preview, shared across the cover and those pages, so you can adjust the artwork before spending anything.

Both grandparents can be in it

Up to five characters, each with their own photo, so grandmother, grandfather, parents, and baby can all appear.

Drawn from real photos

The AI illustrates from the pictures you upload, so the characters carry actual likenesses through every page.

It has a second life

A gift to them now, and the book the grandchild asks for in a few years because they are in it too.

Describe the Story

Story Ideas That Work Well

There is no theme menu. You describe the story you want and it is written around that. Three that suit a first grandchild.

The Day They Met

The hospital corridor, the drive, the first time the baby was handed over. A quiet story that turns an ordinary afternoon into the founding event it actually was.

Everything We're Going to Do

The fishing trip, the kitchen, the garden, the tree they will build something in. A story set in the future they are already planning out loud.

The Family, Newly Rearranged

Everyone in one adventure: new grandparents, parents, baby, and any older siblings. Usually the first picture of the whole family in its new shape.

Good to Know

Notes for Whoever Is Organizing This

1

Gather the photos before you start

One clear, well-lit, front-facing photo per person. Newborn photos are the hardest, so use one where the baby's face is visible and not in deep shadow or half covered by a hat.

2

Ask what they said they'd do

New grandparents announce their plans constantly in the first month. Write those down and put them in the story. Being quoted back to themselves is most of the effect.

3

Give the printing two weeks

Printed books take 5 to 7 business days to produce before shipping starts. If you want it in hand for a christening, a naming, or a first visit, order well ahead. The digital version is emailed within minutes if the date is close.

Got Questions?

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the grandparents be the main characters, not the baby?

Yes. Adults are a supported hero type, so the story can center on the new grandparents with the grandchild alongside them. You choose the reading level at creation, and an older band suits a story written for adults.

How many people can be in the book?

Up to five characters in total, including pets, and each one can have their own photo so they are illustrated as themselves. That is usually enough for both grandparents, the parents, and the baby.

What kind of photo works for a newborn?

One where the baby's face is clearly visible, well lit, and not obscured by a hat, blanket, or heavy shadow. Newborn references are the trickiest ones, so it is worth taking a fresh photo specifically for this rather than using a favorite that happens to be dim.

Is this a good baby shower gift?

It works better once the baby has arrived, simply because you need a photo of them for the illustrations. Before the birth, a book starring the grandparents-to-be alone is possible, but most people prefer to wait so the grandchild can be in it.

What comes in the printed edition?

A 32-page book: the twelve story pages as full spreads with a full-bleed illustration facing its text, plus title pages and decorative endpapers. Extra personal pages, including a dedication, a letter from you, and a photo page, can be switched on if you want them. They start switched off.

Can it ship directly to them?

Yes. Enter their address at checkout. Printed books ship to the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands, and the digital edition can be emailed anywhere.

From our family to yours

We are a family business in Las Vegas, named after our daughters, Delilah and Mia. Watching our own parents become grandparents is a large part of why this company exists. It is a strange, enormous thing to happen to somebody, and the world marks it with almost nothing. Making a book that is actually about them, rather than about the baby with their name in the dedication, felt like the obvious correction.
